Through a responsive approach to the existing environment Johan Stenbeck explores the relationship between inner and outer reality.
Shaping his artistic practice to the specific location or project at hand utilizing a variety of disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. Alongside his art practice he is finishing a Master in Architecture, studying “Settlement, Ecology and Tectonics” at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. At Land404s residency he will focus on transforming an existing boathouse at the exhibition site as well as creating a sculpture.
Johan Stenbeck is represented by Little Finger gallery in Malmö where he figured on the cover of the first issue for their self titled art magazine and was part of the group show ”Pro Cicerone” in 2017. His work has been shown internationally at venues including The GoodDrawers Collective in Chicago, BLAA gallery in Copenhagen and at Festival Dias Nórdicos in Madrid as well as locally in Blekinge where he presented a solo exhibition at galleri Mitt Hem and participated in a group show at Karlskrona Konsthall.
